Features
- F-Prot: engine and def-updates - Of course :)
- Good default settings and easy to use (especially in comparison to the old "8a2-ras")
- Very flexible configurations possible (means: not limited to F-Prot)
- Multi-language support (currently: German, English, Dutch, Estonian, Italian, Polish)
- Various status information (date of the last execution, *.DEF-files, current engine, if fp-checkd or F-StopW are running)
- FTP, HTTP (with proxy-support), UNC or local paths supported as engine/*.DEF-sources.
- fp-checkd: check every X hour or at network-notification
- Prompt user before check/update
- Launch external programs at certain stages (before/after update)
- Compatibel to F-StopW (=On-Access-Scanner of FP-Win)
- Exitcodes (handy for automated batch-jobs); Log-file; unpacks ZIP-files
- And some more useful things ...
Known Issues
- DNS-resolution via proxy-server is not supported by WININET.DLL (and
therefore also by Fp-Check).
- Jana-Server: is generally a bit moody (means: is not caused by Fp-Check); works since v2.4.0 quite stable without problems at my Win95c-Box.
- WinNT/2k/XP: needs write-access in it's own folder (see To-Do "Security-Stuff")
To-Do-List or "nice to have"s
- Security-stuff (LoginUser; SU)
- encrypt config
- network-capability; server/client-stuff for central management;
switchable between admin and user-mode
- policies for F-StopW (currently only in 9x/me possible)
- due to the network-stuff, probably Fp-Check will become memory-resident, so
it can send a mail, if an infections occours (but currently without a F-StopW-logfile
not possible)
